10* TOTAL OF WEEK - STANLEY CUP FINAL
(NHL) Tampa Bay vs. Colorado,
Total: 6.00 | 104.00 Under
Result: Loss
Total: 6.00 | 104.00 Under
Result: Loss
This is a 10 TOTAL OF THE WEEK on the UNDER Lightning/Avs.
The Avalanche are 12-2 in the playoffs, but now they face their stiffest defensive challenge yet.
The Lightning's Andrei Vasilivsky is experienced, and he's damn good. Tampa didn't panic when it lost the first two games against New York, it made adjustments and then won four straight.
The biggest differnce were the defensive adjustments that the Lighting made, as they let up a total of just FIVE goals over those final four games to win the series and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
Clearly, if the Lightning are going to win this game, or this series, they're going to have to control the pace and tempo and not let the high-octane Avalanche have the upper hand in that department.
That could be easier said than done, as the Avs average 3.76 goals per game, which is fourth in the league.
But they only allow 2.83.
These are two really good defensive teams and I think the extra time off here for Colorado between series will be detrimental to the offense. I believe this will be a classic case of rest leading to rust.
The Avalanche have faced some pretty lame goaltenders so far in the playoffs as well. No Sarose for Nashville, Binnington goes down after shutting them down a game earlier, and then they faced another backup goaltender in 40-year-old Mike Smith.
When you add up all these factors, I say UNDER in Game 1.
Good luck, NP
