These teams have been playing to several higher-scoring games of late, but we're expecting those trends to end this evening. We had a play on the UNDER in yesterday's game between these clubs, and while that pick came up short, we love how Thurday's contest finally sets up as a bit of a DUEL.
The Royals have now seen the total go OVER in four straight, while the Astros have seen it fly OVER in three in a row (which is significant to note here as Houston has seen the total go UNDER in eight of its last 11 after playing to three or more straight OVERs in a row.)
Justin Verlander (10-3, 2.03 ERA) is having a fantastic first half for the Astros. He's 4-1 wih a 1.65 ERA over his last five starts and he's 23-10 with a 3.20 ERA in 45 career starts vs. Kansas City.
Kris Bubic (1-5, 7.06) counters for the Royals, and he comes in of his best outing of the season, allowing two runs with four strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision to the Tigers.
It marked the second time in his past three trips to the hill that he's conceded two or fewer runs.
