AL SWING FOR THE FENCES (TOTAL)
(MLB) Seattle vs. Houston,
Total: 6.50 | 105.00 Under
Result: Loss
The Seattle Mariners take on AL West rival the Houston Astros in game one of the best-of-five ALDS series. They met 19 times this season with the Astros winning the season 12-7 and they were 7-3 at home.

The Mariners will start Logan Gilbert to face off against Justin Verlander. Gilbert was at his best in September posting a 2.00 ERA. For the season, he posted a 13-6 record with a 3.20 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. In four starts against the Astros, he was 2-1 with a 2.52 ERA. The Mariners are putting up 4.26 runs a game. The pitching staff has posted a 3.59 team ERA.

The Astros will go with their stud Justin Verlander on the mound. He has allowed three runs in his last starts. He seems to get better with age r maybe it is the new muscle in his arm? as he posted an 18-4 record with a 1.75 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP. He posted a 2.34 ERA and a 5-1 record in six starts. He is 21-10 with a 3.09 ERA in 37 career meetings against Seattle. and has posted a 3.40 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in the postseason. The Astros' are putting up 4.55 runs a game. The pitching staff posted a 2.90 team ERA.

Houston went 12-7 in the 19 meetings including 7-3 in their ten home games against the Mariners. Even though he pitched well against the Astros this season, he has a career 4.14 ERA against Houston. Verlander has held Seattle to just one run in each of the last three meetings this season.

I am looking for a low-scoring playoff game in this one. Seattle averaged 3.42 runs in the 19 meetings. Verlander made three home starts against Seattle this season and held them to only four runs in 21.1 innings.
The Astros' offense has not put up a ton of runs against the Mariners, averaging 3.84 runs in the 19 games. The back end of the Seattle bullpen has been very good and the Astros led the big leagues with a 2.80 bullpen ERA. The under is 3-0-1 in the Astros' last four playoff home games.
