Result: Win
The Cleveland Guardians pulled away with the AL Central doof TMwn the stretch and then took care of Tampa bay in the wildcard round. They now will take on the AL East Division champion New York Yankees. Cal Quantrill will take his 15-5 record and 3.38 ERA to the mound. He will face off against the Yankees' Gerrit Cole, who is 13-8, with a 3.50 ERA. The Guardians are 26-4 in their last thirty games and they are an incredible 30-17 in one-run games. In Quantrill's last five starts, he is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.76.

The New York Yankees have had Friday off since they last took the field. The Yankees finished the season as the league's leading home run team, the 2nd highest-scoring offense, and the third-best bullpen ERA in baseball. Gerrit Cole will look to get the Yanks off to a strong start. Cole won 13 games, set a team record with 257 strikeouts but also led the American League in giving up 33 home runs. Cole allowed 10 home runs in just 36 innings in September. He pitched well against the Guardians, posting a 2-0 record in two starts with a 1.42 ERA with 15 strikeouts. In his last five games, however, Cole is 2-1 with a 5.22 ERA.

Cole will need a good start in this one. He is 8-5 in his career in the playoffs with an ERA of 2.93 in 14 career starts. He has allowed 15 home runs in those 14 starts and struck out 11.6 batters per nine innings.

Cleveland is 18th in runs per game this season overall and the Yankees are 2nd in baseball. Since the AS break, New York has put up 4.7 runs a game as compared to over five runs before the break. The Guardians went under in their two games with Tampa Bay. The Yankees went under in seven of their last 10 games. If Quantrill can go deep he will turn the ball over to a bullpen that hasn't allowed a run in 10.1 innings of work in the playoffs.
