10* WORLD SERIES GAME 1 WINNER
(MLB) Philadelphia vs. Houston,
Money Line: -160.00 Houston (Home)
Result: Loss
Destiny vs. Dynasty. The Phillies will look to keep their destiny going when they open the world series in Houston. it won't be easy as Houston has yet to lose in the playoffs this year. The Phillies were the last National League team to make the playoffs and lost just two games in knocking off the Cardinals, Braves, and Padres The Phillies averaged five runs a game against the Padres and allowed 3.8 runs to make the World Series. Aaron Nola gets the start for the Phillies in Game 1. In three postseason games, he has posted a 2-1 record with a 3.12 ERA. He did not fare well in his last start, he went 4.2 innings and gave up six earned runs and two home runs in a loss to the Padres. Against the Cards and Braves, he threw 12.2 scoreless innings. This is the fourth time in the last six years the Astros have made it to the World Series. The Houston Astros have found themselves in this spot for the fourth time in the past six years.
The Astros averaged 4.5 runs against the Yankees in their four-game sweep and allowed 2.25 runs a game. Justin Verlander will get the start for the Astros. Which Verlander will show up? the one that started the playoffs getting roughed up by Seattle? or the one that pitched against the Yankees? Verlander allowed six earned runs on 10 hits in four innings against the Mariners. He bounced back with six innings and one earned run and three hits and eleven strikeouts against the Yankees.

These teams have been very similar in that they both had an easier time in the playoff to get to this spot. Houston did not lose a game in the run-up to the World Series and Philadelphia dropped just two. Experience could be a factor early in the series as the Astros have played in four of the last six World Series. A key to this game and the series as a whole will be the bullpens. Houston by far and away has the better pen as they have six guys that have an ERA of 1 or less in the playoffs The Phillies are 1-4 in their last five games in Houston. I like Houston to take game one behind Verlander and the pen

Play on Houston.
