I like the St Louis Cardinals to win this game against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. The Cardinals have looked really good in their games lately, winning 2 games in a row now and 4/5 of their previous 5 games. Their offense has looked really good in these games too, putting up 5+ runs in 5 games in a row now. Their pitching has also been great in these games though, they haven't given up more than 2 runs in 4/5 of their previous 5 games and they just blanked opponents in B2B games with a 5-0 win over the Nats and a 6-0 win over the Cubs yesterday. The Cubs haven't looked good in their games lately after getting a really hot start out of the All Star break. They have lost 3 games in a row now and 4/5 of their previous 5 games. Their offense has also looked terrible not putting up a single run in 2 games in a row now. I expect their offensive troubles to continue here as the Cubs continue to go cold and the Cardinals are starting to get really hot now, I expect them to keep winning games in their own ballpark here. Their bats have been getting really hot but their pitching has also been great and I don't see the Cubs doing much here to put up runs on the Cardinals in this game. Justin Steele (4-7, 3.86 ERA) is up for the Cubs here and he has been up and down this year but hasn't looked great in their games lately. He gave up 4+ runs in 2/3 of their previous 3 games and I think he is going to give up runs here with the Cardinals lineup getting hot now. Miles Mikolas (8-8, 2.86 ERA) is up for the Cardinals here and he has looked great this year. He had 1 bad start in his previous few games but he has also had 3/4 of his previous starts where he didn't give up more than 2 runs in the game. The Cubs offense is already struggling to put up runs lately and I expect them to struggle in this game too. I like the Cardinals to win this game.
