Things are looking up for the Marlins down the stretch. They are 6-4 L10, are out of the cellar on offense lately and have their ace on the mound today. Alcantara has been terrific lately, pitching for such length that he needs little support from the pen, and allowing just 4 runs over 24 innings in his last three games.
Meanwhile, the Brewers lost last night, are just 5-5 lately, and are outside looking in for a Wild Card spot at the moment. They also have their ace on the mound today, but all is not perfect in Burnes-ville lately. His ERA over the last two months is well over 4.00 and his innings pitched are down. The Brewers desperately need a win but Alcantara is a very tough out, and with Miami actually scoring some runs, today's game is a perfect spoiler opportunity. I like the Marlins' chances today. Take them on the run line and watch them win or cover.
