Islanders at Rangers
(NHL) Islanders (NYI) vs. Rangers (NYR),
Point Spread: -1.50 | 136.00 Rangers (NYR) (Home)
Result: Win
There's a pulse after all with the Islanders, who revived on Friday in Buffalo when skating to a 4-3 win. That scoreline was important, as 1) it snapped a 3-game skid, and 2) it proved the Isles could score a few goals after being held to a combined one in losses to the Ducks and Blue Jackets. Too soon, however, to suggest things are solved, as Patrick Roy continues juggling lines and combinations, and now must proceed without big gun Matthew Barzal, who has landed on the IR, a dicey prospect for a team that has been blanked four times in eleven games. Granted, the Rangers have lost a bit of momentum the past week as they have alternated wins and losses their last four, but Igor Shesterkin (5-2-1, 2.25 GAA, .931 saves) is always worth consideration in goal, and must note the 39 goals scored by the Rangers in ten games, compared to 26 in eleven games by the Isles.
