Vermont at Auburn
(NCAAB) Catamounts (UVM) vs. Tigers (AUB),
Point Spread: -14.50 | -112.00 Tigers (AUB) (Home)
Result: Win
Don't sleep on Vermont, as John Becker returns four starters from last year's A-East winners who lost to Duke in the first round of the Dance. Junior swingman TJ Hurley, one of the returning Catamount starters, scored 20 in the opening win over UAB on Monday. A quick glimpse at the box score vs. the Blazers, however, is cause for a bit of concern, as Vermont only hit 38% from the floor and watched the cold-shooting Blazers miss all 10 of their triples. Worth noting, too, that in the few games stepping up vs. major opposition, the Cats lost by 22 at Virginia Tech and 17 vs. aforementioned Duke in the Dance. Meanwhile, Bruce Pearl looks like he has another Tigers contender on his hands with a chance to make a deep run in March, fueled by some high-powered transfers such as Furman's JP Pegues and Georgia Tech's Miles Kelly, along with hotshot frosh G Tahaad Pettiford. Best of all, 6-10 frontliner Johni Broome might be one of the best returning bigs in the SEC. Play Auburn
