San Diego State at UNLV
(NCAAF) Aztecs (SDSU) vs. Rebels (UNLV),
Point Spread: 21.50 | -110.00 Aztecs (SDSU) (Away)
Result: Win
Have the oddsmakers been attaching too much of a premium to UNLV since that 59-14 blowout of Fresno State at the end of September? In the aftermath, the Rebs have covered only one of five games, quite a turnaround in spread fortunes for Barry Odom, who was 14-4 vs. the line with UNLV prior. Mind, this is no vintage San Diego State, which needs to win out to get bowl eligible. No hint of much progress from the offense, which is why new HC Sean Lewis was supposedly hired. But the Aztecs have a bit of balance with RB Marquez Cooper on the verge of 1000 YR, and frosh QB Danny O'Neil is starting to wing the ball around the yard, throwing 41 times last week vs. New Mexico. Note that only Ashton Jeanty and Boise have been able to extend a margin beyond 21 vs. the Aztecs. UNLV is still in the mix for the Mountain West title game (though someone has to beat Colorado State the next two weeks, border rival Wyo couldn't on Friday...UNLV and for good measure Boise also isn't on the Rams' regular-season schedule). The Rebs, however have been allowing too many points lately (32 pg the last five) to feel comfy laying this sort of number. Play San Diego State
