Count us among those who thought the Broncos could get one of the two road games at Baltimore and Kansas City prior to this week; last Sunday at Arrowhead looked to be it, especially with Will Lutz lining up for a game-winning 35-yard field goal on the last play...only to see it blocked. The 16-14 heartbreaker meant Denver will go at least a decade between wins at Kansas City (the last one in Peyton Manning's final season of 2015). Still, progress for the Broncos, and the defense was stellar again vs. Patrick Mahomes after disappearing the week before vs. the Ravens. Kirk Cousins, however, could be a sitting duck in the pocket for a Denver pass rush that got to Mahomes four times last week and harassed and hurried him numerous other times, and now with 35 sacks on the season led by LB Nik Bonitto's seven, and 6.5 from fellow LB Jonathon Cooper. And even in a losing effort, Bo Nix continued to progress on the NFL learning curve last week, and leading the Broncos into position to win the game in a hostile environment counts as a plus. Note the Falcons have played twice vs. AFC opposition this season and lost both (no shame in losing to the Steelers and Chiefs, but that's the results pattern this season). Mostly, we expect the Broncos to corral Cousins and limit the damage the Falcons will cause. Play Broncos on ML
