Sometimes, 3-0 marks can deceive. Take the 'Cuse, which, while undefeated, probably couldn't have been less impressive from the gate, fighting tooth and nail vs. the likes of nearby LeMoyne and Colgate, and then surviving a shootout vs. Youngstown State. Unlikely any of that trio shows up in the Big Dance next March. Yet, some positives for Adrian Autry in his second season at the helm of the Orange, as jr. G J.J. Starling (21.8 ppg) looks like one of the featured performers in the ACC, and touted 6-9 frosh Donnie Freeman has hit the ground (or hardwood) running, scoring at 12 ppg and nearly 10 rpg. Though 'Cuse three-point shooting (only 25%) needs to improve, and quickly. The three-game Texas win streak doesn't impress us, coming against outmanned opposition; when the Longhorns were challenged this season, they bowed in the opener vs. Ohio State in Las Vegas. Rodney Terry leaning awfully hard upon 6-6 frosh wing Tre Johnson (23.5 ppg). Like the opener, this one at a neutral, albeit likely more support for the Orange in Brooklyn. Play Syracuse (at Brooklyn)
