This is an 8* FAN APPRECIATION TOTAL on the UNDER Astros/Orioles.
Houston has seen the total go OVER in seven of its last ten, including two straight, while Baltimore has seen the total go OVER in seven of ten as well, and in two straight also.
Neither of these starting pitchers instills a ton of confidence, but I think this number is still a little too high.
Jake Odorizzi is 1-3 with a 5.68 ERA overall, but he's coming off a very strong appearance in relief vs. the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing just two hits and striking out three over four scoreless innings. It was a nice turn-around effort for the veteran and I expect him to build off that here.
Keegan Akin is 0-2 with a 5.76 ERA for the Orioles. The rookie is coming off an outing to forget in which he allowed eight runs over six innings in a loss to the Indians on Wednesday. The positive was that he struck out seven, and he produced 16 swinging strikes for 96 total pitches (he's better at home too with a 3.99 ERA.)
I think this O/U line is now inflated because of all the recent OVERS these teams have bee playing too of late.
I think this sets up well for each starting pitcher.
When you add it all up, the play is indeed the UNDER.
