In a NL East battle, we get to see the Phillies head on the road to face the Marlins in the opener of a three-game set. Normally, you'd say Philadelphia has the better offense and call it a day. However, we just saw the Phillies drop two straight to a reeling Toronto team north of the border. While Philadelphia will have J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm back, they're facing the likely frontrunner for the NL Cy Young to this point of the year. Sandy Alcantara has been tremendous, going 9-3 with a 1.73 ERA, a 0.913 WHIP, 31 walks and 111 strikeouts over 130.1 innings of work in 18 starts. He easily could have 13 or 14 wins if the Marlins scored more runs for him: he has five starts where he threw at least seven innings without allowing more than two runs. He's 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in 14 innings over two starts against the Phillies this season and is 6-4 with a 3.03 ERA, a 1.224 WHIP, 25 walks and 66 strikeouts over 74.1 innings in 12 career starts against them. Alcantara has gone at least seven innings in 12 straight starts and is 5-2 with a 1.59 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP, 11 walks and 57 strikeouts over 68 frames at LoanDepot Park this season. Kyle Gibson and the Phillies' bullpen can't keep up as the Marlins take the opener.
