Another day, another fade of the Washington Nationals, who are the worst team in the National League. Max Fried gets the ball for the Braves and he's been solid this season, going 9-3 with a 2.56 ERA, a 1.068 WHIP, 22 walks and 105 strikeouts over 112.1 innings of work on the year. Atlanta had won nine straight games that Fried started before taking the loss against Max Scherzer and the Mets in his last outing. Fried has posted a perfect 4-0 record with a 2.27 ERA, a 0.956 WHIP, four walks and 34 strikeouts over 39.2 innings in six road starts this season. The Nationals send Paolo Espino to the hill and he's still searching for his first win of the season. As a starter, he is 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA, a 1.462 WHIP, eight walks and 21 strikeouts over 26 innings in his six outings. Washington entered Friday 27th in runs per game (3.85) and were 26th at home (3.67) in that category. Meanwhile, the Braves are fifth in runs per game (4.71) and tied for 10th on the road with 4.60 runs per contest. Atlanta entered Friday having won eight of the 10 meetings this season and held a run differential of +30. Look for the Braves to cover the run line and earn the victory here as they keep pressure on the Mets.
