Let’s be perfectly honest: this matchup is hardly must see TV. Akron has a pair of wins, including one over Eastern Michigan, and they did cover last week on the road against Northern Illinois. Meanwhile, Kent State is abysmal: they have dropped eight of their 10 games by double figures and one of the one-score defeats came at the hands of FCS school St. Francis (PA) in a game where they were favored by 17 points. The Golden Flashes can’t throw, they are last in the FBS in rush offense, third-worst in scoring offense and last in scoring defense this season. Akron is no great shakes but they do have a capable running back, two decent receivers and a quarterback that can make plays. That’s enough to give them the nod in this contest.
