This is a 10* TOP UNDERDOG PLAY on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jon Lester (2-1, 4.55 ERA) has had plenty of success vs. Pittsburgh throughout his career, but he enters in poor form.
Lester comes off a pedestrian outing vs. the lowly Tigers last time out, where they had at least one base runner in each of his five innings and multiple base runners in three innings.
Previous to that Lester had allowed 13 runs over just 9 2/3's innings of work.
Pittsburgh is going to lean upon Chad Kuhl (1-1, 2.52) here to go as deep as possible and that's primarily why I love this underdog play.
Kuhl has had difficulties with the Cubs in the past, but he enters having a strong come back season, making six appearances so far this year (four starts) and giving up one run or fewer in five of those appearances.
I like Pittsburgh to take advantage here and get the job done in the opener of this series!
