This NHL season will be like no other. Like no other for the players and broadcasters. For the fans. Also for the bookmakers and sports handicappers.

After Washington's high-scoring 6-4 win in last night's opener, I look for a much tighter contest in the second game of the back-to-back.

The Sabres got down early and had to play from behind the entire night.

Both teams do have good goaltending, last night's performance though clearly didn't showcase that.

Whether it's the starters or backups in net, I expect a better showing between the pipes from each side as well.

The first few weeks of the season will be about adjustments. Adjustments for the players, the fans and also for the bookmakers and handicappers.

I look for each team to make defensive adjustments that will help in driving tonight's contest well UNDER this sky-high number.
