The Rays have the Yankees number. They had it last year, and so far they've won three of four in the season series this year as well.
That includes an 8-2 win here yesterday. I think Jordan Montgomery of the Yanks and Tyler Glasnow of the Rays are essentially a "wash." Glasnow has superb numbers, and they're slightly better than Montgomery's, but for all intents and purposes, these two starters are very evenly matched.
New York though is 7-2 in its last nine home games in trying to revenge a five runs or greater loss to an opponent.
The Rays on the other hand are just 2-6 in their last eight following a road win over an opponent of five or more runs.
"The value" in this series the last two years has been on the scrappy underdog side with a chip on its shoulder. Well guess what? The undervalued underdog in this series isn't the Rays anymore, it's the desperate Yankees, looking to break a three-game slide and exact a little revenge.
All things considered, I think we're getting a great price here. The play is the YANKS.
