This is an 8* CUSTOMER APPRECIATION PLAY on the Islanders PUCKLINE.
Game 1 was even until the third period. Even then, it wasn't until the final moments that the Islanders completely fell apart, with Boston pulling away for the 5-2 victory. It was all tied after two periods.
New York of course would love nothing more than to earn a split here in Boston. That's easier said than done though against this disciplined and opportunistic Bruins side, which just finished steamrolling the Capitals.
The Islanders will have to double down on the defensive end (they concede 2.23 GPG, which ranks second overall.)
Boston has been damn impressive. It lost to the Capitals 3-2 in OT in its opening game, but it hasn't dropped a game since, winning five in a row. Including Game 1 in this series.
But some important trends point to the Bruins finally having a letdown here, as note that Boston has gone just 2-6 in its last eight after a five games or longer unbeaten streak.
And note that the Isles are 7-2 in their last nine in trying to avenge a road loss against an opponent of three or more goals.
In a contest which I see being decided late or in extras, I'm going to lay the price for the extra goal-and-a-half.
The play is New York on the puck line.
Good luck, NP
