This is a 10* SITUATIONAL SLUG-FEST on the OVER Phillies/Mets.
Two really decent starting pitchers here, but we still feel that this number is LOW.
Both teams have been playing to several lower-scoring games of late, but we're expecting those trends to end this evening.
Philly has now seen the total go UNDER in four straight after yesterday's 2-1 series opening victory here, while New York has seen the total go UNDER in three of its last four.
Aaron Nola is 8-8 with a 3.17 ERA for Philadelphia. He's so far enjoyed a resurgent season, especially on the road. He's 9-5 with a 3.21 ERA in 23 career starts vs. the Mets.
deGrom is 1-0 with a 2.53 ERA. He's 8-1 with a 2.29 ERA in 19 starts against Philadelphia.
This is just a case of both of these veterans being in the wrong place at the wrong time this evening. These sparkling numbers are difficult to maintain, and regression seems imminent for both.
This total is indeed a tad low, so the play is the OVER.
