The Devils finished in seventh in the Metropolitan last year, while the Flyers finished in last place. These teams played three games against each other last year, and New Jersey went 2-1.
New Jersey has plenty of new faces, including Ondrej Palat, as well as goaltender Vitek Vanecek from the Washington Capitals. He had an impressive pre-season, finishing 4-0 with a 1.58 GAA.
The Flyers made plenty of changes as well, including hiring a new head coach in John Tortorella. Philadelphia struggled on both ends of the ice last year as well. Carter Hart posted a ballooned 3.16 GAA.
Philadelphia went 1-5 in the pre-season. I say that New Jersey comes out firing here and delivers on Opening night.
