Northwestern State is coming off one of the biggest upsets of the year, beating TCU 64-63 on the road as a 21.5-point underdog. Suffice it to say, I'm expecting a predictable letdown here after that epic win.
The Demons are now 2-2. They average 64.8 PPG.
Illinois State is 2-1. It averages 63.7 PPG.
The Redbirds just played at Northwestern State last week, and won by a score of 69-67. While they were uanble to cover the 3.5-point spread on that night, I look for this rested team to take advantage of this spot, and to pull away down the stretch for the comfortable win and cover.
"Revenge" is always an angle I take into consideration. It's great situational angle to utilize. It can definitely be over-rated at times though, and this is one of those situations in my opinion. If Northwestern State had lost to TCU, and espcially if it had been a blowout loss, then I'd almost assuredly be leaning towards the visiting side today.
But the big emotional win negates the "revenge factor" here in my opinion. Look for the focussed home side to pull away down the stretch for the comfortable win and cover.
