The New York Yankees will open the 2020 baseball season against the defending World Series Champions, the Washington Nationals. This game features a tremendous pitching matchup between the Yankees Gerrit Cole and the Nationals Max Scherzer. During these strange times, it is hard to know what you're going to get and more importantly how long you are going to get it from these two. So far, during this spring training, the Yankees bats seem to be in regular-season form and have been hitting the ball well. The Nats took a hit in their offensive firepower as last year's hero, Anthony Rendon left via free agency and Ryan Zimmermann decided to opt out this season due to Covid.

Both teams will have their pitchers on short leashes as the will want to work their aces into the season slowly. This game will probably come down to the bullpens. The Nationals bullpen was not great last year and they did little to improve it.

The Yankees have an edge in the pen and at the plate and these to advantages will carry them to an opening day win.
