Before the stoppage, it could be argued that the Kings were playing some of their best basketball of the season. They had won seven of ten and had moved to 3.5 games out of the eighth playoff spot held by the Memphis Grizzlies. De’Aaron Fox was one of the Kings that had stepped up their game, averaging 20.4 points and 6.8 assists a He will need to take it up a notch as Marvin Bagley III, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to injury. The Kings will need to improve on the defensive end of the floor if they expect to have a chance to move on. As a team, the gave up 110.9 points a game.

The Spurs will need to rely on their offense if they hope to make a move in the bubble. The Spurs offense ranked 10th in the league, putting up 113.2 points a game. DeMar DeRozan is one of the reasons the offense has thrived. He was putting up 22.2 points and 5.6 assists a game and shot 52.6 percent from the field. He will have to do better than that as the Spurs have lost LaMarcus Aldridge for the remainder of the regular season. If the Kings play bad defense the Spurs play it worse. They rank 27 in the league on defense allowing 114.9 points a game. This will not get the job done against the Kings.

The Kings were playing well before the break having won seven of ten. The Spurs were heading in the opposite direction having lost three of their last five games. The Spurs will struggle with Aldridge, their second-leading scorer, and top rebounder out for the season.

Play on the Sacramento Kings.
