The Oakland Athletics open a three-game series with the Texas Rangers tonight. The Rangers send Lance Lynn to the mound for tonight's start. He has been sensational in his first two starts, going twelve innings and allowing zero runs on three hits and recorded seventeen strikeouts. He has four starts against the A's in his career and has amassed a 5.66 ERA. Lynn has had to be outstanding as the Rangers bats have been deficient. They rank near the bottom in many offensive categories. They are putting up 3.38 runs a game.

The A's will send out Jesus Luzardo for his first career start. He has pitched twice in relief, He has given up 3 runs in 6.2 innings. Last season out of the pen, he allowed two runs on five hits in 12 innings of work. He held Texas to only one run in four innings in the lone meeting. Their offense has not been putting up a ton of runs but they have great pitching and find themselves atop of the AL West. They have won 2 in a row after dropping three straight. The A's offense is putting up 3.33 runs but their pitching is allowing just3.07.

The Rangers were not good against the A's last season winning just six of nineteen games between the two. Lynn has been pitching great but the Rangers don't generate a lot of runs. Expect the A's to get the job done again against the Rangers.
