The Cincinnati Reds lost a game that they controlled for six innings but their bullpen let them down. They wasted an outstanding effort from Tyler Mahle, who went six scoreless innings allowing just one hit. Their bullpen gave up two runs without the ball leaving the infield in the seventh and then two more an inning later. Tejay Antone will make the start for the Reds. He is 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season.
The Cleveland Indians had a nice comeback last night after being 1 hit through six. They took advantage of the Reds pen to get the win. The Indians came away with the win even though the collected just three hits. Shane Bieber moved his record 3-0 after giving up just two runs on five hits and striking out eight over 7.2 innings of work. The Indians will go with Mike Clevinger in today's game. This season, he is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 11 strikeouts.
It is hard to know what to expect from Antone in his first start, but he couldn't have picked a better team to face. Last night's four runs equaled the output from the Indians in their last three games combined. The Reds haven't been hitting the cover off the ball either and Clevinger should be able to keep them off the bases. This will probably come down to the pens again.
