The offense was led by DJ LeMahieu, who led the league in batting average at .364. with 10 homers with 27 RBI. Luke Voit led the league in homers with 22, and he drove in 52 RBI. Gerrit Cole will make the start for the Yankees. Cole went 7-3 this season with a 2.84 ERA. In his career in the postseason, he is 6-4 with a 2.40 ERA.

The Indians finished the regular season at 35-25. Cleveland was hot down the stretch, winning eight of their last ten. Cleveland's strength all season has been their pitching staff. Their offense was led by Jose Ramirez with a .287 batting average, to go with 17 homers, and he drove in 46. Cesar Hernandez hit .283 batting average and drove in 20. Shane Bieber will take the mound for the Indians in game one. He finished the regular season at 8-1 with a 1.63 ERA over 12 starts.

The Yankees have been battling injuries all year to their regular day lineup. Cole has been really good this season and should keep the Yankees in the game. Bieber has been outstanding and the Yankees will struggle to do anything against Bieber. This game will be close going into the later innings and the Cleveland staff as a whole is a notch above the Yankees.
