THE PROFESSOR’S MLB SHOT-CALLER!
(MLB) Houston vs. Chi White Sox,
Money Line: 103.00 Houston (Away)
Result: Loss
The Houston Astros took game one of their three-game set against the Chicago White Sox last night in Chicago. Houston smashed 10 hits to win going away 7-1. Lance McCullers allowed just one run and two hits in seven innings. They will look to keep things going by sending Jake Odorizzi to the mound. he has posted a 3.61 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 12 walks in 47.1 innings.

The White Sox had swept the Orioles before the break but couldn't get their bats going last night, picking up just 2 hits. The White Sox are 19 games over .500 against bad teams but are playing just below .500 against good teams. There is World Series talk going on in the South SIde but they will need to show they can beat teams like Houston. They will look to take a step in that direction by sending Giolito to the mound. He has had somewhat of an off-year but still has posted a 7-6 record with a 4.15 ERA and 125 Ks.

Giolito has not been pitching to last year's standards and has been prone to the long ball in the first half of the season. He will need to cut down on home runs and in many cases, those are the only way a team has scored on him. Odorizzi has really started to get in a grove the last month or so. He has gone at least 5 innings in five of his last six outings. He has given up just 3 earned runs in his last for starts, throwing 22 innings. These are games Chicago needs to start winning, but with the Astros lineup and the way Giolito has been giving up home runs, I am taking the ASTROS at + money.

Play on Houston.
