The Mets took game 1 of the series 5-3. David Peterson looks to keep things rolling for the Mets as he faces off with the Marlins' Jesus Luzardo. Peterson had some control issues during spring training as he issued eight walks in 12 innings, on the bright side, he did not allow a run and had 13 strikeouts. Last year he spent time between starting and relieving while posting a 3.83 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 105.2 innings. Jesus Luzardo makes the start for the Marlins. Last season, he posted a 3.32 ERA in 100.3 innings last season. During Spring training he posted an impressive 15-1 strikeout-to-walk rate in 13.2 innings. The Marlins have not hit well against Peterson. In 51 plate appearances, they have 4 extra-base hits and a .218 batting average. The Mets have the better offense and
just need Peterson to keep this one close early.
