The Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics meet in the second game of a four-game series. The Astros took game 1 by the score of 3-1. Framber Valdez gets the start for the Astros while the A's will counter with JP Sears. Valdez has made 18 starts this season and has posted a nice 2.76 ERA. He the Athletics back in May and allowed just one run in six innings. As a team, the Astros have the third-lowest ERA in baseball. Sears has allowed three or fewer runs in nine of his last 11 outings and has a 3.99 ERA in 19 starts. Despite Sears's efforts, the A's have allowed the most runs in the Majors, and have the highest team WHIP. The Astros swept two series against the A's earlier this season and have won seven in a row against the Athletics. Sears has been the better pitcher over the last few starts but Valdez should be able to get right against an A's team that puts up under 4 runs a game. Houston will score some runs in this game if not off of Sears but off the A's pen. Take the Astros and lay the run and a half.
