This is a play based on the pitching matchup more than anything. Houston will go with Spencer Arrighetti on the mound. The rookie has not looked good, going 2-5 with a 6.93 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP over 37.2 innings in eight starts. Seattle will go with Logan Gilbert for today’s start. He is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP over 70.2 innings in 11 starts. During May, Arrighetti is 2-2 with a 5.33 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP in 27.0 innings while Gilbert is 1-2 with a 4.40 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP in 30.2 innings. Seattle is 7-3 in its last ten versus Houston. The Mariners offense leaves a lot to be desired but they have a huge advantage on the mound and should be able to score off of Arrighetti. Gilbert has allowed only seven total runs in four home starts. Houston has put up just four runs in the first two games and the last time they faced Gilbert, they were shut out.
