The Texas A&M Aggies will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. Notre Dame’s offense finished last season 8th in points per game with 37.8. Riley Leonard will start under center. The offensive line has a few new faces so they may struggle with continuity early in the season. The Irish also has a new backfield. Notre Dame allowed just 17 points per game last season. Texas A&M enters this season with new coach, Mike Elko. He was on the Duke coaching staff when Riley Leonard was there. Conner Weigman will be under center. The Aggies finished 21st in the nation with 32.9 points scored per game last season. On the defensive side of the field, the Aggies had one of the strongest pass rushes in the nation. They held opponents to 23.1 points per game. Will Notre Dame be able to effectively move the ball? Elko knows what Leonard can do and should be able to use his defense to slow him down and cause problems against a questionable Irish offensive line. I am going to ride the Aggie defense in this one.
