Result: Win
The Los Angeles Dodgers took game one of the MLB season from the Chicago Cubs 4-1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto went 5.0 innings and allowed just one run on three hits and a walk to pick up the win. Shohei Ohtani went 2-5 with two runs scored. Mookie Betts missed the game, and will also miss Wednesday’s game. Roki Sasaki will get the start. He was a big offseason signing from Japan. Last season he was 10-5 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 18 games. He has made two starts (7.0 IP) this spring, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. The Cubs will look to make the playoffs for the first time in five years. Chicago brought in SP Matthew Boyd, C Carson Kelly, and 1B/3B Justin Turner as well as Kyle Tucker. Justin Steele will get the start for the Cubs. He went 5-5 last season, but posted a 3.07 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 24 starts. This spring, over 8.2 innings he posted a 9.35 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in three starts. TheCubs made moves to get better but there is no denying the Dodgers are the better team. There are not too many lineups that can deal with the loss of a Mookie Betts but the Dodgers are one of them. Roki Sasaki will be making his MLB debut for the Dodgers. The Dodgers have a solid pen that finished last season third in ERA and fifth in WHIP. Chicago was 11th in relief ERA and 19th in WHIP last season. Take the Dodgers to win game two.
