Result: Win
Money Line: 107.00 Cincinnati (Away)
Result: Win
The Reds are coming into this game not playing great since coming out of the break but they are finally starting to play much better again as they have won 2 of their last 3 as well as 3 of their last 5 games and they are going to have a lot of confidence in this series as they are coming off of a 9-0 win against the Dodgers in a series which they took 2 of the 3 games in LA. They are going up against a Cubs team that has been playing very well recently as they had won 8 straight games going into Sunday, but they lost in their last game to the Cardinals 3-0 in a game where their offense completely died and now that they have lost the momentum from their winning streak, they will have a tougher time bouncing back here against a Reds team that is starting to heat up again. Andrew Abbott is starting for the Reds here and he is 6-2 with a 1.90 ERA this season. He is just a rookie but he has been great all season as he has allowed more than 2 earned runs in just 3 of his 10 starts this year and has been very good recently as well, allowing no earned runs in 14 innings of his last 2 starts. He is going to continue pitching well here now that the Cubs offense has been going cold, scoring just 3 runs or less in 2 of their last 3 games. Marcus Stroman is starting for the Cubs here and he is 10-7 with a 3.51 ERA this season. He has been very good and consistent in most of his starts all year, but recently he has been starting to unravel as he has allowed a lot of runs over the last month. He just allowed 7 earned runs in his last start and has allowed at least 4 earned runs in his last 2 as well as 4 of his last 5 starts. Most of those starts have been against some of the weaker offenses in the MLB as well so he is really going to struggle in this game against a very good Reds offense that has been heating up again. The Reds scored 9 runs in their last game against the Dodgers and their offense will continue to carry the team here while Abbott continues to pitch well and shuts down the Cubs here. The Reds will win this game.
