The Braves are coming into this game playing very well recently as they are starting to heat up once again. They have won their last 3 straight as well as 5 of their last 6 games and their offense has been great in those games. They have scored at least 8 runs in 5 of their last 7 games but their pitching has also been good as they have allowed 1 run or less in 2 of their last 3 games. They are going up against a Cubs team that has also been playing well recently as they have won 3 of their last 4 games, but those 3 wins also came against the Reds who have some awful pitching and the Cubs are going to struggle to score runs in this series a lot more as the Braves have much better pitching and even shutout the Cubs on Friday. With their offense cooling off now, the Cubs will not be able to keep up with the number of runs the Braves can score in this game. Javier Assad is starting for the Cubs here and he is 1-2 with a 3.24 ERA this season. He has not been pitching poorly this season but he has also been a reliever in almost every appearance except 1 where he started 3 innings against the Dodgers and allowed 2 earned runs in those. Now he is being thrown into this start against the best offense in the MLB and he is going to allow some early runs here as he will not be able to stop this red hot Braves offense from scoring. Even if he does not pitch long as this will likely be a bullpen day for the Cubs, he will still allow some runs early and the Cubs do not have a very trustworthy bullpen either. Bryce Elder is starting for the Braves here and he is 8-2 with a 3.18 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well this season and has only allowed 2 earned runs or less in his last 2 starts as well as 6 of his last 8. He has also pitched well on the road this season as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in 6 of his last 7 road starts and he will continue to pitch well here with the Cubs lineup cooling off now. The Braves offense has also been very hot recently and they will outscore the Cubs in this game as they have the better pitching as well. The Braves will win this game.
