Result: Win
Money Line: -107.00 NY Mets (Home)
Result: Win
The Cubs are coming into this game playing very well recently as they have won 5 of their last 6 games including 2 of their 3 games against the Braves who are the best in the league right now. All of those wins came at home though where they have been a better team and now they are going on the road against a Mets team that has not been playing well. The Mets have lost their last 6 straight games as they were just swept on the road in 2 different series against the Royals and the Orioles but now they are back at home for this series and they are going to be desparate to stop the bleeding with a win in this game. Drew Smyly is starting for the Cubs here and he is 8-7 with a 4.71 ERA this season. He has not been pitching well in his recent starts as he allowed 5 earned runs in his last start and has allowed at least 4 earned runs in 4 of his last 5 starts as well. He was pitching well at the start of the season but ever since hitting July he has been unraveling in his starts and as bad as the Mets offense has been this season, they are going to score some runs at home with the way Smyly has been pitching recently. Kodai Senga is starting for the Mets here and he is 7-6 with a 3.25 ERA this season. He is just a rookie but has been pitching very well in his starts this season and recently he has not allowed more than 3 earned runs in each of his last 7 straight starts, allowing just 2 earned runs or less in 6 of those 7 starts. He has also been much better at home all season as he has allowed just 2 earned runs or less in his last 3 straight as well as 8 of his 10 home starts this year, allowing just 1 earned run or less in most of those. The Cubs offense has been very hot recently but ever since scoring 36 runs in 2 games against the Reds their offense has actually been dying down as they have only been averaging less than 5 runs scored per game in their last 4 games. Senga will continue to pitch well here at home against this Cubs offense that is cooling off and the Mets will be desparate to get a win at home and stop the bleeding. The Mets will win this game at home.
