The Cubs are coming into this game playing very well recently, they did lose 11-2 in their 1st game of this series against the Mets but they have also won 2 of their last 3 as well as 5 of their last 7 games and will be hungry to bounce back here now that they are back in the playoff race with how well they have been playing recently. They are going up against a Mets team that has been awful all season as they are well below .500 and just snapped a 6 game losing streak with that win against the Cubs last night. They have been struggling with a weak offense that has been very inconsistent all season and it will be tough for them to follow up that great performance with another here. Jameson Taillon is starting for the Cubs here and he is 6-6 with a 5.36 ERA this season. He had a very rocky start to the season but now he has settled in recently and has been pitching very well. He has allowed 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 3 straight as well as 4 of his last 5 starts. Now that he has gotten into a rhythm recently, it will be very tough for this weaker Mets offense to score a lot of runs here and they will have to try and keep up with the Cubs offense as well. Carlos Carrasco is starting for the Mets here and he is 3-6 with a 6.60 ERA this season. He has been very inconsistent this year but recently he has been allowing a lot of runs. He has allowed at least 4 earned runs in each of his last 4 starts and has allowed at least 6 earned runs in each of his last 2. He has also faced some of the worst offenses in the league in that span with the Royals, the Nationals, and the White Sox all scoring 4 runs or more against him. The Cubs have a very good offense and they have been hot recently scoring a lot of runs in their games, they are going to bounce back here with a better performance and score runs on Carrasco with how bad he has been. The Cubs will bounce back in this game and win.
