Auburn is coming into this game off of a big 59-14 win at home over UMass to get the Hugh Freeze era started. That offense was in full gear right from game 1 as they scored 59 points on a UMass team already played in week 0, but despite the score, Auburn was not that great on offense in that game. They did not have a strong run game in that one and their passing game was not great either as they threw for a total of around 200 yards and their starting QB was not that accurate either. They were able to capitalize on a lot of short fields given to them at home but now they have to travel across the country and play a very good California team on the road. California blew out North Texas in their 1st game on the road and they have done a lot in the transfer portal to improve this season, picking up a lot of power 5 talent. They have put together a great team this season and now they are at home for their 1st game of the season there where they have been much better. Cal was still good at home last season and they were bad last year, now they are going to be dominant at home with their new team and unlike Auburn, Cal scored 58 points in their 1st game with a strong run game and a heavy passing presence. Cal is going to win this game at home straight up so take California to cover the spread in this game.
