Michigan is coming into this game with a 2-0 record this season as they have had a strong start this year. They are going up against a St John's team that is 1-0 this season after winning their 1st game of the year against Stony Brook by 16 points. St John's was also a mediocre team last season, going 18-15 overall, and they are only returning less than 20% of their minutes played as well as their scoring from last year. St John's is also in their 1st year of a new head coach though as they just hired Rick Pitino to take over and even though they do not have a lot of returning players, Pitino is the much better coach here and has put together a team of players he can work with.
