UNLV is coming into this game with a 1-1 record this season. They opened their season with a loss at home to Southern and followed up with a win against Stetson in their last game but now they are playing their 1st road game of the season here. They are going up against a Pepperdine team that is 3-1 this season with their very hot start. Pepperdine was awful last season as they were only 9-22 overall but they are returning over 45% of their minutes played as well as their scoring from last year. They did lose their leading scorer to the NBA but they managed to bring back a few starters, including their 2nd leading scorer from last year. Pepperdine has played much better in their games this season as they opened their season with a big win over Concordia before losing a close game on the road to UC Davis by 1 point. They bounced back from that loss with 2 straight wins though as they beat both Lafayette and LIU at home by double digits. Pepperdine was awful last season but their team has been improving in these non-conference games and they will be hungry to keep their streak going since they have been playing so well at home while UNLV has already struggled against some weaker opponents this year.
