The Guardians are coming into this game with a 63-42 record this season and they have been playing well recently as they just won 2 of their 3 games against the Phillies over the weekend. Prior to that series against the Phillies, they had a series against the Tigers and only split that 2-2 as they have struggled against the Tigers this season. They even lost 3 of their 4 games in the last series they played against the Tigers in Detroit which was only a few weeks ago at the beginning of July. The Tigers are 52-55 this season and they just lost 2 of their 3 games against the Twins over the weekend, but they will be hungry to bounce back here against a team they have given some trouble recently. Tanner Bibee is starting for the Tigers in this game and he is 8-4 with a 3.50 ERA this season. He has been pitching well recently as he has allowed just 1 earned run in his last 2 starts, but prior to that he allowed 4 earned runs in 2 straight starts as he has been inconsistent. He is coming off of a start at home which he allowed just 1 earned run against the Tigers, but he is going to struggle to repeat that here as he has struggled against the Tigers this season. He actually allowed 4 earned runs in a road start against the Tigers back at the beginning of July and he also allowed 4 earned runs against them at home back in May. Jack Flaherty is starting for the Tigers in this game and he is 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well recently as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 3 as well as 7 of his last 8 starts, and he has also allowed 1 earned run or less in 2 of his last 3 as well as 6 of his last 8 starts as he has been the more consistent starter this season. He has been great at home as he has allowed 1 earned run or less in each of his last 2 as well as 3 of his last 5 starts there, allowing no more than 3 earned runs in any of those, and he has also pitched very well against the Guardians this season. He is also coming off of a great start against the Guardians in his last one, allowing no earned runs in 6 innings on the road, but he has also allowed just 2 earned runs or less against the Guardians in his other 2 starts against them this season. The Tigers have been winning a lot of their games with good pitching as they also have one of the better bullpens in the league this season and Flaherty will be able to lead them to another victory against the Guardians who have struggled against this pitching staff all year. The Tigers will win this game at home.
