AMEDEUS' MLB GOLD STRIKE!
(MLB) Yankees (NYY) vs. Phillies (PHI),
Money Line: -130.00 Phillies (PHI) (Home)
Result: Loss
The Yankees are coming into this game with a 64-45 record this season and they have been playing much better in their recent games. They have won their last 4 straight games and their offense has been on fire in these as they have scored at least 7 runs in each of their last 5 games, but their pitching has not been good as they have also allowed 10 runs in the 2 games of this series despite winning both games. They are going up against a Phillies team that is 65-42 this season and has not been playing well recently, losing their last 3 straight games, but this is a good spot for them to bounce back at home and avoid getting swept by the Yankees here. Nestor Cortes is starting for the Yankees in this game and he is 4-9 with a 4.13 ERA this season. He has been awful in his recent starts as he has allowed at least 4 earned runs in each of his last 3 starts, not even making it 5 innings in any of those either. In his last 2 road starts, he has allowed at least 4 earned runs in each, allowing 9 earned runs total in those 2 games without making it 5 innings in either, and this has been an ongoing problem all season with the team going 7-15 in the games he has started this season. Cristopher Sánchez is starting for the Phillies in this game and he is 7-6 with a 3.05 ERA this season. He allowed 3 earned runs in his last start, but he has been pitching very well recently as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in 2 of his last 3 as well as 5 of his last 7 starts. He has been much better at home this season as well, allowing 3 earned runs in his last start there, but prior to that he had allowed 2 earned runs or less in all 10 of his home starts this season, allowing just 1 earned run or no runs in 4 of his last 6 starts there as well. The Yankees offense has been heating up recently but Sanchez has been very good at home all year and he is the best chance for the Phillies to shut down this offense. The Phillies offense has also been scoring runs in this series and they are going to score with the way Cortes has been allowing runs in his recent starts. The Phillies are also going to get up for this game at home to avoid being swept, especially after losing such a close game in the 12th inning on Tuesday. The Phillies will win this game at home.
