Point Spread: 3.50 | -110.00 Tigers (LSU) (Home)
Result: Win
Ole Miss is coming into this game with a 5-1 record this season, but they are 1-1 in the SEC with a home loss to Kentucky. Their offense was great in their first 3 games of the season, but they have struggled a lot more in conference play. They only scored 17 points at home in their loss to Kentucky and they are coming off of a road win against South Carolina in their last game, scoring just 27 points in that game. They are going up against an LSU team that is 4-1 this season, but they are 1-0 in the SEC and will be hungry to stay undefeated in the conference. Their SEC win came on the road against South Carolina 36-33 and they were trailing in that game to start, but they pulled off the comeback win and have played much better in their last 2 games. They are also coming off of a bye so this is a good spot for them to be in at home. LSU has not had a great run game this season, averaging just 131.2 rushing yards per game, but they do not run the ball as often and are very efficient when they do, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. Ole Miss has a very good run defense this year, averaging just 63.7 rushing yards allowed per game and 1.8 yards per carry, but their pass defense can certainly be exploited by this potent LSU passing offense. LSU is averaging 337 passing yards per game this season and they have a very good quarterback in Nussmeier who is completing 69.7% of his passes. He also has 15 TDs and 4 interceptions so LSU is going to attack this Ole Miss secondary with high accuracy and that will actually open up the run game more for them later in the game. LSU also has a good run defense themselves so they will be able to slow down Parrish on the ground and force Dart to beat them with his arm, something he struggled more to do against Kentucky. LSU has the quality to win this game at home with their potent offense and improved defense. They have also won the last 7 straight meetings with Ole Miss at home, the last time Ole Miss won in Baton Rouge being back in 2008. LSU will cover the spread in this game.
