Long Beach State is coming into this game with a 1-7 record this season and they have not been playing well in their recent games. They won their 1st game of the season against a team that does not play in Division I, but now they have lost their last 7 straight games. They have been awful in this tournament as they lost both of their games against UNC Greensboro and UTEP by 20+ points, failing to even score 50 points in each of those games, but prior to this tournament they were very competitive in their losses. They had lost 5 straight games coming into this tournament, but 3 of those losses were by 3 points or less while the other 2 losses were blowouts but came on the road against San Francisco and Gonzaga. Long Beach State is going to be very hungry to snap their 7 game losing streak and finally beat a Division I team this season, and this is their 3rd straight day playing a game but there is going to be fatigue on both sides and Long Beach State can take advantage of that as the hungrier team. They are going up against a San Jose State team that is 3-5 this season and has been playing better in their recent games. They have won their last 2 straight games, winning both games in this tournament, but they won in much closer games as both wins came by 6 points or less. They were awful coming into this tournament though as they opened the season with 3 straight losses and lost 5 of their first 6 games. Their only win in that span was against a team that does not play in Division I as well and they were losing some games to weaker teams as well. San Jose State is going to come into this game feeling good about winning both games in this tournament, but that can lead to becoming complacent against a team that has been struggling the way Long Beach State has, and Long Beach State is going to be very hungry to pick up a much needed win here.
