The Rangers are coming into this game with a 14-12-1 record this season and they have been awful in their recent games. They have lost their last 2 straight as well as 3 of their last 4 games with their only win in that span coming against the Penguins. Shesterkin has been playing better in their recent games though as he has not allowed more than 2 goals in each of his last 2 starts. They are coming off of a 2-1 loss to the Blackhawks at home in their last game, but they played well defensively in that game. Their offense struggled to score in that game, but prior to that loss they had scored 4+ goals in 2 straight as well as 3 of their last 4 games and they are going to be hungry to bounce back against a bad team as they need to get themselves back on track. They are going up against a Sabres team that is 11-13-4 this season and they have been awful in their recent games. They have lost their last 7 straight games and their defense has been a big problem in these games with a lot of blown leads as well. They are coming off of a 6-5 loss at home against the Red Wings in their last game and they have allowed 5+ goals in each of their last 2 as well as 3 of their last 4 games. They scored 5 goals in their last game against the Red Wings, but they have still scored 2 goals or less in 2 of their last 3 games and that will be a problem here with Shesterkin and the Rangers defense playing better recently. The Rangers have the defense to keep the Sabres out of their net and the Sabres defense is not going to be able to stop this Rangers offense which will be the difference in the game. The Rangers desperately need a get right game and this is the perfect time to run into a spiraling Sabres team that is one of the worst in the league right now. The Rangers will win this game.
