Detroit is coming into this game with a 5-7 record this season and they are 1-1 in the conference. They were awful last season as they went 1-31 overall, but they are already off to a much better start this season under their new head coach. They have lost their last 2 straight games and they are coming off of a bad loss to Davidson in their last game, but they played much better in their 2 conference games so far. They got a win at home by 1 point over Purdue Fort Wayne and they lost at home to Wright State by 8 points. This is their 1st conference game on the road this season, but they have played better in the conference this season and they have not been bad on the road either. They just lost big against Davidson, but prior to that they actually won 2 of their last 3 games on the road, their only loss in that span coming by 10 points against Wake Forest. They are going up against a Northern Kentucky team that is 5-6 this season and they are 1-0 in the conference. Their conference win came on the road by 2 points against IUPUI and they have won their last 3 straight games as well, but they have not been dominant in a lot of their games. They are coming off of a 9 point win at home against Norfolk State and their last 2 wins against Division I opponents have been by 9 points or less. They only have 1 big win against a 3-8 Bellarmine team, winning that game by 16, but 2 of their wins have also come against non-Division I opponents. Northern Kentucky has also been awful with their shooting this season, going 43.8% from the field which is 237th in the country, and they are also in the bottom 100 for 3 point shooting, free throw shooting, and rebounding as well. Their defense is also in the bottom 100 defending the 3 and from the field, and that will be a problem in this game. Detroit has not been great from the field this season as they are also in the bottom 100, but they are actually a top 100 team from the 3 and a top 50 team with their rebounding. They also have an advantage from the free throw line so Northern Kentucky can try to pull away here, but they will always leave the door open for this Detroit team to stay in this game.
