The Lions are coming into this game with a 13-2 record this season and after seeing the Vikings win on Sunday, the Lions are going to be pushing to win this game with the division and the number 1 seed in the NFC on the line. They are coming off of a 34-17 win against the Bears on the road in their last game after losing at home to the Bills the week prior, and their run game was still great in that game with Gibbs getting all of the work now that Montgomery is out. They are going up against a 49ers team that is 6-9 this season and has already been eliminated from making the playoffs. The 49ers have had an awful season this year as they have been riddled with injuries, and now they have nothing to play for so they will be more focused on letting their players heal for next season. They have lost their last 2 straight games and they are coming off of a 29-17 loss on the road against the Dolphins in their last game. Their defense has not been playing well either, allowing 29+ points in 3 of their last 5 games. They have not been able to stop the run recently either, allowing a 100 yard rusher in each of their last 2 as well as 4 of their last 5 games, and that includes their last game against a Dolphins offense that has struggled to run the ball all season. Gibbs is going to lead this offense on the ground as the 49ers have been getting destroyed in the run game recently, and that will only open up things in the passing game for Goff as the 49ers are still missing many key pieces on this defense. Guerendo will be back for the 49ers in this game, but they are still down to their 3rd string RB and the Lions have been good at stopping the run in recent games. The 49ers have too many injuries on both offense and defense, and they do not have much motivation for this game. The Lions are going to have success moving the ball on the ground as well as through the air here, and they are still looking for revenge after losing a close game to the 49ers in the playoffs last year. The Lions will cover the spread in this game.
