Utah is coming into this game with a 16-16 record this season and they were 8-12 in their conference. They were knocked out of the Big 12 Tournament in their 1st game, losing 87-72 against UCF, and they have not been playing well recently as they have lost their last 3 straight as well as 5 of their last 6 games. They even fired their head coach toward the end of the season, but their interim finished the year going 1-4. Now they are going to be missing 2 of their starters in this game as well as quite a few of their bench players who have entered the transfer portal. They are going up against a Butler team that is 14-19 this season and they were 6-14 in their conference. They have not been playing well recently either as they have lost 5 of their last 6 games and ended their season with a 78-57 loss against St John's in the Big East Tournament, but they also had a tough schedule to end the year with games against the top teams in their conference. Butler struggled against better opponents in their conference, but they were able to beat up on the weaker teams and they were also very good in non-conference play as well. They will be able to handle one of the weaker teams in the Big 12, especially with Utah being in so much disarray. Butler is not dealing with as many players going to the transfer portal as Utah is. Utah's only real advantage in this game was their rebounding, but their top rebounders have entered the portal now. Butler is going to cover the spread in this game.
