Money Line: 125.00 Red Sox (BOS) (Away)
Result: Loss
The Red Sox are coming into this game with a 1-3 record this season after beating the Rangers 5-2 on opening day, but losing their last 3 straight games to them. They are going up against an Orioles team that is only 2-2 this season, coming off of a 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays in their last game. Their offense was on fire in their 2 wins as they beat the Jays 12-2 and 9-5, but their offense was not very good in their losses as they lost 8-2 and 3-1, playing very inconsistently in that series. Sean Newcomb is starting for the Red Sox in this game and he has been pitching very well in Spring Training this year. He went 1-0 in his 4 starts and only allowed 1 earned run in 14.1 innings pitched. He did not get many appearances last season and has not been starting many games over the last few seasons, but he came into the league as a starter and is looking to revive that part of his career so he is going to bring his best stuff, especially with his team 1-3 to start the season. Cade Povich is starting for the Orioles in this game and he has been pitching well in Spring Training too. He went 2-1 in his 4 starts and allowed 5 earned runs in 14.2 innings pitched. He is very inexperienced though as he is only in his 2nd ever MLB season and did not have a great rookie year either, going 3-9 with a 5.20 ERA last season. He did not pitch well against the Red Sox either, allowing 4 earned runs in 4.2 innings and 2 earned runs in 6.1 innings, his team losing both of those games with him getting charged with both losses as well. The Red Sox made a lot of moves to improve their team this season and they are going to get up for this divisional series with their 1-3 start to the season. The Red Sox will win this game.
